Local SEO Data + Claude — The Default Local SEO Data Layer

Local SEO Skills needs data. Rankings, reviews, citations, competitor profiles, AI visibility scores — every strategy skill runs on information about the current state of local search. Local SEO Data is the default data source: a single MCP connection that provides 36 endpoints covering SERP data, GBP intelligence, geogrid scans, citation audits, review metrics, keyword research, AI visibility measurement, and competitive analysis.

One tool connection. Coverage for 80% of local SEO data workflows.

What Local SEO Data Covers

Local SEO Data provides the data layer that powers most Local SEO Skills workflows. When you ask Claude to audit a GBP profile, Local SEO Data’s business_profile endpoint provides the data. When you run a geogrid analysis, geogrid_scan delivers the ranking map. When you check AI visibility, the ai_visibility endpoint measures presence across AI platforms.

The coverage spans:

  • SERP and ranking data: What’s showing in search results for any keyword and location
  • GBP intelligence: Complete profile data for any business listing
  • Geogrid scans: Ranking at every coordinate across a service area
  • Citation data: NAP consistency across directories
  • Review metrics: Rating, count, velocity, and sentiment
  • Keyword research: Volume, competition, related terms, trends
  • AI visibility: Presence across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity
  • Competitor analysis: Gap analysis across multiple signal types
  • Backlink data: Link profiles and competitive gaps

The result: you connect one tool and have data for nearly every local SEO question Claude can answer.

Credit Management

Local SEO Data uses a credit system. Different endpoints cost different credit amounts based on computational complexity:

Low-cost endpoints (1-2 credits):

  • keyword_suggestions, search_volume, business_listings, ping, get_balance

Medium-cost endpoints (3-5 credits):

  • local_pack, business_profile, citation_audit, review_velocity

Higher-cost endpoints (10+ credits):

  • geogrid_scan (varies by grid size), ai_visibility (varies by keyword count), local_audit

Estimating credit usage:

  • Standard GBP audit: ~10-15 credits
  • Geogrid analysis (7x7 grid): ~15-20 credits
  • Full local SEO audit with competitor analysis: ~30-50 credits
  • Monthly monitoring package: ~50-100 credits

When to Add Specialist Tools

Local SEO Data covers the majority of workflows. Add specialist tools for specific needs:

Local Falcon: When you need geogrid trend reports (ranking changes over time) rather than point-in-time scans. When you need recurring automated scans. When you need Falcon Guard GBP monitoring.

Ahrefs: When you need deep backlink analysis beyond backlink_gap summary. When you’re building a serious link acquisition campaign requiring full referring domain profiles.

Semrush: When you need Keyword Magic Tool depth (25+ billion keyword database). When you need full organic keyword gap analysis against competitors.

BrightLocal: When you need to execute citation building (Local SEO Data audits; BrightLocal submits). When you need multi-platform review dashboards for agency management.

DataForSEO: When you’re running 1000+ queries in a session. When you need raw API access for custom pipelines. When bulk pricing beats credit pricing at your volume.

The tool-routing.md document guides dispatch’s decisions: Local SEO Data first for covered workflows, specialist tools when their specific capabilities are needed.
